If you never saw Queer As Folk on Showtime, you really missed out because it was a terrific show. I'm sure they didn't anticipate at first that a straight Jewish girl would be watching, let alone her mother and stepdad, but all of us did. We all had our favorite characters. My mom was partial to Emmett, but for some reason I was more into Brian. Brian was a bit pretty for my taste, but had a confidence and some might say arrogance that was appealing for some reason. The show has long since ended, but my favorite actor from that show, Gale Harold, who played Brian, is going to be on a new show on Fox. I had no idea about the new show, but my friend Ainsley (who also likes Gale) told me about it this week. Thanks Ains! I'll be watching. One more reason that I really need to get Tivo.

Yes, Josh Radnor Is Cute, But That Isn't Why I Watch The Show
If you read this blog at all, you know that I am a big fan of the show How I Met Your Mother. I truly think it's one of the funniest and most entertaining shows I have seen in many years. It doesn't hurt that the men on the show are cute in the boyish, kind of dorky (meaning cute, but they still might like Star Wars) way I like. The fact that all three guys (and the girls actually) are constantly tossing out witty barbs at each other that make me laugh, well that doesn't hurt either. Josh Radnor, who plays Ted, is cute and very talented. When my friend Dena and I saw him in person at an event for the show during the Paley Television Festival, both of us agreed he was pretty darn cute, but she was so smitten that she kept reminding me every few minutes during the Q&A. Usually it is me that geeks out like that over a talented actor or director, so it was fun to see someone else spaz out a bit. Anyway, the whole reason for this long rant is that the show is featuring behind the scenes footage online this whole week, so people can get a sense of how the show is put together. Click here and then go to top videos and scroll down to the day in the life footage.
I'm Full Of Contradictions
Recently someone e-mailed me about this shirt and I laughed out loud. I think I might just have to buy it. Later that same day, someone showed me this shirt for kids that also made me chuckle. The shirt for kids is a bit immature and would seem to be a bit low rent and not the kind of more cerebral, sarcastic humor I often like, but I'm full of contradictions. I mean we all know I like South Park as well. I'm not proud of my moments of immaturity, but we all have them and it is good to laugh at stuff like that every so often.

Geek Crack
Just so you know, I'm not a nerd. Liking technology and being half way good with computers doesn't make me a big antisocial nerd. I am, however, a bit of geek. I know it doesn't sound like much of a distinction, but I swear there is a difference. I don't go to Star Trek conventions or play D&D, but I might be able to help you set up your wireless network at home. Does that help to clarify things? Anyway, I must admit last week when Google finally released the free Google calendar, I was pretty excited. Don't say it or dare think it... if you call me a nerd, I won't show you how to use it or help you when you have computer problems.

May The Meow Be With You
I'm not sure why, but this short film from SNL this last weekend, made me laugh out loud. In fact at one point while I was watching the video, I choked on my soup and it almost came out my nose. The video is dumb for sure, but something about it is so ridiculous that it cracked me up.
Do You Need A PhD. To Figure Out How to Flush?
I have worked at quite a few places since I graduated, some big, some small, some fancy, some not so much, but I have never worked at a place that had a toilet like this. The perks at Google just never stop! I bet the toilet paper is pretty nice as well because if they're going to shell out for high end toilets, I gotta guess they aren't going one ply.

When Roomba Met Frogger
Reading this article about two guys who essentially created a live action version of Frogger with a homemade frog suit and a Roomba vacuum was for sure one of the best laughs I've had all week. Remember the video game Frogger (scroll down to Frogger)? I loved it when I was young. There was even once a Seinfeld episode that had to do with Frogger. It's a simple game where you maneuver a frog across a street full of traffic, but for some reason it's fun and engrossing. Hopefully you'll find the article funny as well, and, who knows, maybe I'll be writing about someone dressed up in a Pacman suit next week.
Little Leah Abigail has arrived!
This will be an unusual posting. No sarcasm, no jokes, no puns, etc. My writing partner and friend, Jessica, just had her first baby a few days ago and I just wanted to do a posting to say CONGRATS and welcome to little Leah Abigail. She was born on April 8th and is doing well. We have already discussed that at some point we will write a story about pregnancy and/or motherhood, so we can turn some of her experiences into material. I promise if we do get an agent and ever sell an idea like that, I'll buy little Leah lots of gifts.

Location, Location, Location
I think it was about a month or two ago, when a bunch of people I know were so into this site, where you could look up any home and get a rough estimate of the value. At the time, I so couldn't get into it. For some reason I ended up looking at it today and I can see why it is fun and addictive for some people. If you're curious what your house is worth or want to figure that out about a house someone else owns, check it out.
He Is Free To Convict Me Of Thinking He's Cute & Talented
Have you see the relatively new show on NBC called Convinction? I've caught it once or twice (it seems to be airing multiple times) and it's actually pretty good. The cast member I'm really liking is Jordan Bridges (yes, he is one of those Bridges) because there is just something about him that is quirky and sweet.

I Was Wondering If I'd Ever Get To See This
So, I'm not blogging often right now because I'm so busy, but I try when I can, so that is why I am blogging at 12:30 AM, on what is technically Sunday morning. This week I was reading about the fact that the famous pilot Ben Stiller directed, that was called Heat Vision and Jack, was available to watch on You Tube. I'd heard about it forever, but I never thought I would get to see it. If I try to explain what it's about, it would just sound like I was making it up, so just check it out.

Josh & Donna - FINALLY!
Until a month or so ago, I hadn't watched The West Wing for a couple of years. It was great when Aaron Sorkin was still writing the show and Rob Lowe was still on, but once they left, it often felt uninspired. I knew that the series was coming to end and it changed time slots, so I figured I would give it another go and I'm so glad I did. These last few episodes have been incredible. Josh and Donna finally kissed and then slept together. Their chemistry is one of the main reasons I liked the show in the past, so it was great to finally see it happen. Check out this review of the episode and the cute picture of them. I actually find Bradley Whitford kind of cute. My one complaint is that so much of it was implied (with the exception of one kiss) that it was a little disappointing. Their rapport is so engaging to watch and I would have loved to see a kiss or two. Wow, is it obvious I haven't had someone to kiss me recently or what? One of the things I'm really working on with my screenwriting is learning how to show and imply instead of explaining everything with dialogue. I know in our recent script, we did a much better job of it, but I still need to work on it more. The reason I bring it up now is that there were a few great show don't tell moments during the episode that made me realize how amazing those subtle moments can be when they are done right. I'm so hoping when they flash to the future at the end it will turn out that they got married or something and I am guessing it will go in that direction, but I'll just have to wait and see. The saddest part of the whole episode was the very end when they had someone find Leo (John Spencer) unconscious, but we all knew it was coming because of his real death earlier this year, so it wasn't a surprise, just really heartbreaking.

If I Drink This, I Worry I'll Never Sleep Again
I don't have an easy time sleeping. I need a new mattress and have for some time, but for whatever reason I just haven't gotten to it. The main reason sleeping is hard for me, is that I'm a worrier (although I'm getting better) and it's hard for me to shut my mind down to just go to sleep. I keep hearing about this new product from Coca Cola and thinking, if I drink it, will I be awake forever? It might not even have a ton of caffeine or sugar, but it just sounds like it would keep me awake and that head trip in itself is enough to cause me problems. Here's a review of it from someone else, but if I try it, I'll let you know what I think.
